Deuteronomy 17:12,13
God dealt differently with His people back in the Bible days. then He does now. Let’s look at how God dealt with sin under the Old Covenant, it was serious and still is it will not work, so don’t be doing any winking this is a serious matter.
When people are being presumptuous they think they can sin all they want to and get away with it.
God was letting His people know that it is a dangerous thing and that if one of the leaders acted presumptuously He would be killed. Because this was because leaders communicate through their actions whatever they do is acceptable for everyone.

But God is telling us, “I will not let a presumptuous leader get by with wrong behavior, because if I do, everyone is going to think it is ok to act the same way.”
That is exactly why we must keep the right hearts and attitudes if we want God to continue to use us. Being in leadership we have to act the way we are supposed to, and it carries huge responsibilities. We have to stand up and live with integrity, behind the scenes and it does involve living without presumption. It means we do not do wrong, we do right when nobody can see us but God Almighty.
It is very important to be on guard, against presumptuous ways, why? Presumption, causes disrespect and a rebellious attitude towards authority, Presumptuous people think they do not have to listen to those who are in charge or over them. They also think, that someone is a certain way and they are not. Being Presumptuous is a dangerous assumption of someone or things.
They are over-confident in arrogance and unreasonably bold. Presumptuous people talk when they really need to shut up and be quiet. They are always trying so hard to dictate a person’s thoughts and direction, when they should be getting counsel themselves.
They give orders when they need to be taking orders instead. They always do things without permission, they assume things instead of asking first. They can make the wrong choices and get the right results, which never ever works, because it goes against God’s Principles.
Presumption, is a big big problem, which comes from the wrong kind of heart. 2 Peter 2:10,11 says: 10 And particularly those who walk after the flesh and indulge in the lust of polluting passion and scorn and despise authority. Presumptuous [and] daring [self-willed and self-loving creatures]! They scoff at and revile dignitaries (glorious ones) without trembling,11 Whereas [even] angels, though superior in might and power, do not bring a defaming charge against them before the Lord.”
Stop being PRESUMPTUOUS, because God don’t want us to be like that. He wants us to be Humble so others can come to know and honor Him through the way we live our lives!
