What’s The Power of Your Tongue
James 3:5-10
I have done many subjects on how we act and talk, and how we treat other’s. Subjects that are about our “Attitudes, Actions, Faith, Trusting, etc.” How our words can kill. They can actually destroy a person. I get called names,, told off, because people do not want to except how I am or how I have become.
It used to bother me really bad, I mean it used to just tear me up inside. Recently, after my oldest sister passed away June 19th 2014, my husband and I was called some awful names by one of my nieces which we never ever thought we would be done, or called. Because, I was always there for her, no matter what time of day or night it was, I was always there, we’d sit for hours talking about all she needed to, never minded not one bit.
Being, there for her and the other girls was important to me and I made a promise to them when they were little, I’d always be there for them. But, a few got upset because my sister and I was close and the one that died was their mother, which they all was adopted by different families, but they was never there for her, no matter how much she pleaded for them to have something to do with her. I was her care taker, when she had to be put in the hospital.
There are parts I will not include here, but my sister made me promise and her boyfriend not to allow her girls to have anything of hers, I made a promise and I do feel bad I didn’t keep that promise, but no matter how she felt or how they felt about her, I was trying to do the right thing in allowing them have some of their mother’s things, even though by law they wasn’t to have.
They got upset because my husband made sure I got something of my sisters, which I had a right to. I was to have gotten the things back which I had given her, but they didn’t and wouldn’t allow me to, they didn’t give me a chance.
Yes, I got hurt I got upset, because I was lied to once again. But, I made sure if I didn’t get anything else, I had to get the lamp bases which I originally was to have gotten with my mother gave me part of what I was to have gotten, when her and daddy died which went to the living room suite. My sister wasn’t in the will because of the adoptions of her girls and other circumstances, and I was asked by my mother if I wanted her to have those since –– she wasn’t listed in the will.
I said, Okay. Those I was to have gotten back, my daddys desk and his stereo.
But, anyway due to all I have been through and all else, my husband made sure I got some stuff from my sister. So, guess what … we get lied on, cursed, called names filthy names, and yes, I’m almost sure a few agreed with the one whom did it.
What they don’t realize is , how much they torn our hearts open, and especially my husband’s, because he thought the world of all of them, and done all he could for them. He takes his hurt really deep and a few of them will never have to worry about him again.
Me on the other hand, I forgave instantly I will never forget – how we were done, and all the mean hurtful and hateful names we were called, and accused of lying and all.
But, this short story I just told you is only to show you how some people’s words can really damage a person and their hearts. I know my husband and how he is, and he surely will never get over it, they hurt him really bad. (couple excluded)
When, we abuse other’s with our mouths it goes deep and hurt us, and it tears us up inside really bad, and it causes us, to hold the hurt in and it lives deep within our hearts. The hurt, still lies within me, but I pray for them, and that’s all I can do and trust God will change them and how they act and treat other’s.
With God’s help I have been lifted from the hurtful feelings, to where I can deal with it better and I know God will allow me to forget it. Because forgiveness goes deep and when we allow ourselves to forgive those which abuse us with their tongues we can live happier once we allow the forgiveness to take place in our lives.
People just don’t seem to care like they used to, and they treat people like they want , but what they do not realize what hurtful words we speak, we will live by. How we treat other’s we will live by, if people curse you, call you names, up and down whichever it may be can rest assured when they do, they will go through their lives having to live by every word which was hateful in their lives.
The Bible tells us our words can kill and how we were done all this mentioned here has really killed part of my husbands heart, and people often wonder why he’s a hard man and bitterness creeps out, why he feels the way he does about things, he gives his heart as I have and always get done wrong and get trampled all over it.
So, before you think your words are just words and are temporary anger –– STOP –– and think of the words and actions you took or take, because they do destroy. When you lash out, curse someone or argue with someone who is causing or doing it, you’re just as guilty as doing it yourself, and speaking the words you agree with.
So, Clam it Shut, before you live by your own Power of your Tongue!
Our Words can Bless or Our Words can Kill !!! Which words will you use and live by
The ones, who causes one to fall because of their hurtful words and actions will also, live by their own words and actions they say and do to someone else.
They also, can cause someone to not come to the Lord, what’s your Power in Your Words, Your Tongue!!
Some people take it harder than some, and some get over it, but always remember some people don’t and can’t!!!
