What God Says About His Rewards 2
GOD’S WORD ON REWARDS 2
God tells us in His word, that if we Obey His Commandments and do what He asks us to do, we shall reap the rewards.
There are so many which talk bad about Christians, because they live in nice homes, have nice cars, have nice clothing, nice material things, boats etc. and they talk bad about them; which they shouldn’t not at all.
God REWARDS those who diligently seek him and do His work, and obeys Him, that does not mean they are bad Christians because they are being awarded by GOD ALMIGHTY! I have listed verses which just may help you understand the purpose of Getting REWARDED by God for doing what He wants us to do, to Help Him bring others to Him, and when we give to the Kingdom of God, God blesses us back.
HOW DOES GOD REWARD US
BIBLE READING: 2 Chronicles 15:1-19
KEY BIBLE VERSE: And now, you men of Judah, be strong and courageous, for your work will be rewarded. (2 Chronicles 15:7)
GOD REWARDS US WITH BOTH TEMPORAL AND ETERNAL GIFTS
Azariah encouraged the men of Judah to keep up the good work, “for your work will be rewarded.” This is an inspiration for us too. Recognition and reward are great motivators that have two dimensions:
- The temporal dimension. Living by God’s standards may result in acclaim here on earth.
- The eternal dimension. Permanent recognition and reward will be given in the next life. Don’t be discouraged if you feel your faith in God is going unrewarded here on earth. The best rewards are not in this life, but in the life to come.
BIBLE READING: Matthew 6:1-34
KEY BIBLE VERSE: Take care! Don’t do your good deeds publicly, to be admired, because then you will lose the reward from your Father in heaven. (Matthew 6:1)
GOD REWARDS SELFLESS ACTS DONE IN SECRET
It’s easier to do what’s right when we gain recognition and praise. To be sure our motives are not selfish, we should do our good deeds quietly or in secret, with no thought of reward. Jesus says we should check our motives in three areas: generosity (6:2-4), prayer (6:5-6), and fasting (6:16-18).
Those acts should not be self-centered, but God-centered, done not to make us look good, but to make God look good. The reward God promises is not material, and it is never given to those who seek it. Doing something only for yourself is not a loving sacrifice.
With your next good deed, ask, “Would I still do this if no one would ever know I did it?“
BIBLE READING: Matthew 19:16-30
KEY BIBLE VERSE: Everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or property, for my sake, will receive a hundred times as much in return and will have eternal life. (Matthew 19:29)
GOD REWARDS US ABUNDANTLY
Jesus assured the disciples that anyone who gives up something valuable for his sake will be repaid many times over in this life, although not necessarily in the same form. For example, a person may be rejected by his or her family for accepting Christ, but he or she will gain the larger family of believers.
GOD REWARDS US ACCORDING TO HIS STANDARDS
Jesus turned the world’s values upside down. Consider the most powerful or well-known people in our world-how many got where they are by being humble, self-effacing, and gentle? Not many!
But in the life to come, the last will be first-if they got in last place by choosing to follow Jesus.
Don’t forfeit eternal rewards for temporary benefits. Be willing to make sacrifices now for greater rewards later. Be willing to accept human disapproval, while knowing that you have God’s approval.
