As, we have already read what is a miracle, now we are going to show you more about “How Important They Really Are”<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

HOW IMPORTANT ARE MIRACLES TO OUR UNDERSTANDING OF CHRISTIANITY?<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

BIBLE READING:<\/span> Exodus 14:1-31<\/b><\/span>
\nKEY BIBLE VERSE:<\/span> Moses raised his hand over the sea, and the LORD opened up a path through the water with a strong east wind. The wind blew all that night, turning the seabed into dry land. So the people of Israel walked through the sea on dry ground, with walls of water on each side! (Exodus 14:21-22<\/b>)<\/span><\/p>\n

MIRACLES ARE AN UNAVOIDABLE PART OF THE CHRISTIAN FAITH<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Some scholars believe the Israelites did not cross the main body of the Red Sea, but rather one of the shallow lakes or marshes north of it that dry up at certain times of the year, or perhaps a smaller branch of the Red Sea where the water would have been shallow enough to wade across.<\/span><\/p>\n

But the Bible clearly states that the Lord \u201copened up a path through the water with a strong east wind. The wind blew all that night, turning the seabed into dry land\u201d<\/span><\/b> (Exodus 14:21<\/b>; Joshua 3:15-16<\/b> and 2 Kings 2:13-14<\/b>).<\/span><\/p>\n

Also, the water was deep enough to cover the chariots (Exodus 14:28<\/b>). The God who created the earth and water performed a mighty miracle at exactly the right time to demonstrate his great power and love for his people.<\/span><\/p>\n

MIRACLES DREW ATTENTION TO JESUS\u2019 AUTHORITY AND UNIQUENESS<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

When the disciples saw Jesus\u2019 miracle, they believed. The miracle showed his power over nature and revealed the way he would go about his ministry-helping others, speaking with authority, and being in personal touch with people.<\/span><\/p>\n

JESUS\u2019 MIRACLES DREW ATTENTION TO GOD\u2019S CARE FOR HIS CREATION<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Miracles are not merely superhuman events, but events that demonstrate God\u2019s power. Almost every miracle Jesus did was a renewal of fallen creation-restoring sight, making the lame walk, even restoring life to the dead.<\/span><\/p>\n

Believe in Christ not because he is a superman, but because he is the God who continues his creation, even in those of us who are poor, weak, crippled, orphaned, blind, deaf, or with some other desperate need for re-creation.<\/span><\/p>\n

BIBLE READING:<\/span> John 20:24-31<\/b><\/span>
\nKEY BIBLE VERSE:<\/span><\/span> Jesus told him<\/span>, \u201cYou believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who haven\u2019t seen me and believe anyway.\u201d<\/span> Jesus\u2019 disciples saw him do many other miraculous signs besides the ones recorded in this book. But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in him you will have life. (John 20:29-31<\/b>)<\/span><\/p>\n

THE MIRACULOUS NEVER CANCELS THE NEED FOR PERSONAL FAITH<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Some people think they would believe in Jesus if they could see a definite sign or miracle. But Jesus says we are blessed if we can believe without seeing. We have all the proof we need in the words of the Bible and the testimony of believers. A physical appearance would not make Jesus any more real to us than he is now.<\/span><\/p>\n

THE GOSPELS, INCLUDING THE MIRACLES OF JESUS, PROVIDE A BASIS FOR FAITH<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

To understand the life and mission of Jesus more fully, all we need to do is study the Gospels. John tells us that his Gospel records only a few of the many events in Jesus\u2019 life on earth. But the gospel includes everything we need to know to believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, through whom we receive eternal life.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nKEY BIBLE VERSE:<\/span> Crowds came in from the villages around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and those possessed by evil spirits, and they were all healed. (Acts 5:16<\/b>)<\/span><\/p>\n

MIRACLES VALIDATED THE MINISTRY OF THE EARLY CHURCH<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

What did these miraculous healings do for the early church?<\/span><\/p>\n

(1) They attracted new believers<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

(2) They confirmed the truth of the apostles\u2019 teaching<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

(3) They demonstrated that the power of the Messiah who had been crucified and risen was now with his followers.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

The author of the letter to the Hebrews in Hebrews 2:4<\/b> said \u201cGod bore witness\u201d<\/span><\/b> to the true message of salvation by way of miracles. Therefore, in the age of the apostles the miracles performed by God\u2019s servants were seen as authenticating signs of God\u2019s presence and power in his messengers.<\/span><\/p>\n
