There are so many words to this day I have to look up on what they mean. I always wondered what Perseverance meant when mentioned in the Bible and now I know check it out ! Kind of sounds crazy doesn’t for me not to actually know what it really meant?<\/span><\/p>\n

Definition of PERSEVERANCE<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

: continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition : the action or condition or an instance of persevering : steadfastness<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Examples of PERSEVERANCE<\/span><\/p>\n

His perseverance was rewarded: after many rejections, he finally found a job. Perseverance is required to perfect just about any skill.<\/span><\/p>\n

Action or condition of steadfastness<\/b>.<\/span> OT Israel waited generations for fulfillment of promises that many believers never lived to see (Hebrews 11:1<\/b>, 13<\/b>, 21-22<\/b>, 39<\/b>).<\/span><\/p>\n

The promise to Abraham sustained hope for centuries before Canaan was possessed. The lesson of the wilderness journey, when the waning of initial zeal prevented the people from entering the Promised Land, was never forgotten (3:16-19<\/b>).<\/span><\/p>\n

Prophets looked constantly beyond failure and tragedy to distant horizons, and they nourished a patient faith.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jeremiah 32:1-15<\/b> Hosea 3:4-5<\/b> Joel 2:28-29<\/b> Habakkuk 2:1-3<\/b> Daniel 12:11-13<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

The NT everywhere urges similar perseverance<\/span>. Among several Greek expressions, the usual word, proskartereo<\/span>, has the root meaning \u201cto attend continually, adhere steadfastly\u201d<\/span> ‘Mark 3:9<\/b> Acts 8:13<\/b>; 10:7<\/b> Romans 13:6<\/b>, and is variously translated \u201cdevoted,\u201d<\/span> \u201ccontinued,\u201d<\/span> \u201cconstant,\u201d<\/span><\/span> \u201c[be] steadfast.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This persistent patience is called for in prayer in well doing in Christian teaching in affliction in grace in faith in divine love in standing firm in abiding in Christ in running with patience in not falling away and in being zealous to confirm our call and election<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
