CHAPTER 19<\/span><\/p>\n

1\u00a0It is better to be poor and honest than to be a fool and dishonest.<\/span><\/p>\n

2\u00a0Zeal without knowledge is not good; a person who moves too quickly may go the wrong way.<\/span><\/p>\n

3\u00a0People ruin their lives by their own foolishness and then are angry at the Lord.<\/span><\/p>\n

4\u00a0Wealth makes many \u201cfriends\u201d<\/b>; poverty drives them away.<\/span><\/p>\n

5\u00a0A false witness will not go unpunished, nor will a liar escape.<\/span><\/p>\n

6\u00a0Many beg favors from a prince; everyone is the friend of a person who gives gifts!<\/span><\/p>\n

7\u00a0If the relatives of the poor despise them, how much more will their friends avoid them. The poor call after them, but they are gone.<\/span><\/p>\n

8\u00a0To acquire wisdom is to love oneself; people who cherish understanding will prosper.<\/span><\/p>\n

9\u00a0A false witness will not go unpunished, and a liar will be destroyed.<\/span><\/p>\n

10\u00a0It isn\u2019t right for a fool to live in luxury or for a slave to rule over princes!<\/span><\/p>\n

11\u00a0People with good sense restrain their anger; they earn esteem by overlooking wrongs.<\/span><\/p>\n

12\u00a0The king\u2019s anger is like a lion\u2019s roar, but his favor is like dew on the grass.<\/span><\/p>\n

13\u00a0A foolish child is a calamity to a father; a nagging wife annoys like a constant dripping.<\/span><\/p>\n

14\u00a0Parents can provide their sons with an inheritance of houses and wealth, but only the Lord can give an understanding wife.<\/span><\/p>\n

15\u00a0A lazy person sleeps soundly\u2014and goes hungry.<\/span><\/p>\n

16\u00a0Keep the commandments and keep your life; despising them leads to death.<\/span><\/p>\n

17\u00a0If you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord\u2014and he will repay you!<\/span><\/p>\n

18\u00a0Discipline your children while there is hope. If you don\u2019t, you will ruin their lives.<\/span><\/p>\n

19\u00a0Short-tempered people must pay their own penalty. If you rescue them once, you will have to do it again.<\/span><\/p>\n

20\u00a0Get all the advice and instruction you can, and be wise the rest of your life.<\/span><\/p>\n

21\u00a0You can make many plans, but the Lord\u2019s purpose will prevail.<\/span><\/p>\n

22\u00a0Loyalty makes a person attractive. And it is better to be poor than dishonest.<\/span><\/p>\n

23\u00a0Fear of the Lord gives life, security, and protection from harm.<\/span><\/p>\n

24\u00a0Some people are so lazy that they won\u2019t even lift a finger to feed themselves.<\/span><\/p>\n

25\u00a0If you punish a mocker, the simpleminded will learn a lesson; if you reprove the wise, they will be all the wiser.<\/span><\/p>\n

26\u00a0Children who mistreat their father or chase away their mother are a public disgrace and an embarrassment.<\/span><\/p>\n

27\u00a0If you stop listening to instruction, my child, you have turned your back on knowledge.<\/span><\/p>\n

28\u00a0A corrupt witness makes a mockery of justice; the mouth of the wicked gulps down evil.<\/span><\/p>\n

29\u00a0Mockers will be punished, and the backs of fools will be beaten.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
