Acts 25:1-2<\/span><\/p>\n

God\u2019s sovereignty<\/b> over all things is a theme throughout Scripture, especially <\/span>in the book of Acts as the gospel message is spread across the world. God is always <\/span>completely in charge, and what may appear as hindrances are in his control.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Sovereignty of God<\/b> is the biblical teaching that all things are under <\/span>God’s rule and control, and that nothing happens without His direction or permission. <\/span>God works not just some things but all things according to the counsel of His own<\/span>
\nwill (see Eph. 1:11<\/b>).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

His purposes are all-inclusive and never thwarted (see <\/span>Isa. 46:11<\/b>); nothing takes Him by surprise. The sovereignty of God<\/b> is <\/span>not merely that God has the power and right to govern all things, but that He does <\/span>so, always and without exception.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In other words, God is not merely sovereign de jure<\/span> (in principle), but sovereign de facto (in <\/span>practice).<\/span><\/p>\n

God’s sovereignty<\/b> in salvation means that He saves whom He will, and those <\/span>whom He saves owe nothing to anything in or of themselves. They are saved because God<\/span>
\ngraciously chose them in eternity and regenerated and called them in history. They <\/span>cannot even take credit for their faith because it is the gift that He Himself<\/span>
\nsovereignty bestows.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
